KMTA Collegiate State Auditions and Amateur Adults Competition

The Collegiate and Amateur Adults Competitions will be held at KU in Lawrence on November 3rd, 2024.  The cost is $30.00 per entry.  The deadline for registration is Mon. October 14, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Registration will be online and can be paid through Paypal, or a check (payable to KMTA) can be mailed to Emily Yeh.

KMTA Collegiate Competitions are available for piano for Freshman/Sophomore, Junior/Senior, and Graduate groups. Each grouping is required a minimum of two contrasting works and is allowed to perform for 15 minutes.

The Kansas MTNA Young Artist Competition registration deadline is Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Register at the MTNA website. MTNA registration: https://www.mtna.org/

Kansas MTNA Young Artist Piano Winner will receive the Dr. Shiao-Li Ding award of $400, and KMTA Freshman/Sophomore, Junior/Senior, and Graduate Piano Winners will receive an award of $100 each.  Funds are provided by the JETY Foundation.

KMTA Amateur Adults Competitions are open to adults 19 years and older without professional degrees in Music. Applicants must not derive their principal source of income from public performances or piano teaching. Students must reside in the State of KS and be taught by a teacher who maintains a studio in Kansas. 

Repertoire Requirements:

Two compositions of contrasting styles or periods by two different composers.

Piano Concerti and simplified arrangements are not allowed in the competition. 

Memorization is strongly encouraged but not required.

Performance time: 10 minutes

Amateur Adults do not have a district audition. Enter the State Competition directly.
